The Muted "Wide asleep" Review

The Muted on the 19th October released a new single "Wide Asleep" read here to find out what we think...

To start with I think we need to appreciate how talented these brothers are, for such a young age in the music industry they've definitely got something going for them. During the into to the song "Wide Asleep" we hear an erie pitch which then leads into an intricate beat and riff which combined is really effective as it gives the song a nice sound. The lyrics start out with "infiltrating your perception, don't let it get in your vision" which in my opinion is a really effective opening to the song as it continues with the pace and beat. Doing the first verse there is a key change which is a typical pop punk move to pull. We then get to the chorus which is slowed down, which is unusual but we are vining with it, I feel like this pace suits the singers voice better as it is much clearer and he has good control of his vocals. The song then leads onto verse two which has some stand out lyrics like"hold your breath and close your eyes" and "Fix what they have broken" these really stand out to me because they are statements rather than lyrics and I really like that in a song. To end the song the buys repeat the chorus twice but slowing down and adding an acoustic guitar with subtle drums, this is my favourite part of the song as again he has really good controls over his vocals and the rhythm is enjoyable.

Overall I think that The brothers have already come really far in releasing their debut album now this, however, I do get the impression that these boys have a lot to learn, but by speaking to them in an interview I believe that they are willing to put in the work. Lets see where the future lies for them.
