We caught up with Barriers and asked them a few quick questions, read them here!
AR: Lets dive right in with your inspirations? who were they?
B: We've been avid music listeners, and musicians, so the main drive was playing and creating music of our own.
The music came out similar to what we were listening to at the time: O'brother, Thrice, Touche Amore, Code Orange, Circa Survive.
AR:You are very different to most of the bands we have worked with previously, what would your sound be if you had to describe it and has it changed since you first started?
B: When our bass player John joined in 2016 our shift of music had changed, and our music became this spoken word, post hardcore,
melodic style that we've described as passive-aggressive hardcore.
AR:So what is your favourite song right now ?
B: Compared To Now. It's a powerful song that shines light on the difficulty of conflicting relationships and differing life views. Lost In Simplicity is
honest and also fairly transparent in it's lyrical content. The overall confusion that we face in our own lives, can be heard through the verse like: "Intuition may never
be the producer I need it to be, so, bury me in my expectations." And the Chorus, "Everything, gets lost in, Simplicity!" We feel, speaks loud.
AR:You guys seem really close as a band, how long have you known each other?
B: Conner and Ryan have known each other since elementary school. Eric was introduced by one of our old bass players years ago, who he knew since he was in junior high. John had
mutual friends of ours, and were stoked to add him to this project in 2016.
Thank you to barriers for taking the time out of their day to answer these quick questions, check them out here!
